Soft-pion S-wave amplitudes and negative-parity baryons in nonleptonic hyperon decays

We evaluate S-wave amplitudes in the soft-pion limit for hyperon nonleptonic decays by using an approach based on dispersion relations. Agreement with the experimental data is obtained by including corrections from negative-parity-baryon poles.
