This article describes using a PC-based expert system for diagnosing mechanical vibration problems in rotating machinery. The system automatically analyzes vibration data and provides and on-screen assessment of machinery condition. When problems are detected, the system describes the symptoms, provides a diagnosis, and recommends actions that should be taken to correct them.
