New England Power sets the pace with major coal-conversion project

New England Power Co has converted three oil-fired boilers (on units totalling 1150 MW) at their Brayton Point Power station back to their original coal-firing capability. The conversion also involved installing a new electrostatic precipitator, a new ash-handling system, replacement of pulverisers on one unit and improvement of coal-handling facilities.
