Title: Hopping conduction and superconductivity in granular aluminum

Conference · · AIP (Am. Inst. Phys.) Conf. Proc.; (United States)

We have measured the electrical resistance as a function of temperature and magnetic field in superconductive granular aluminum specimens with room temperature resistivities up to 0.04 ..cap omega..-cm. In the normal state conduction is dominated by thermally activated hopping although the variation of log R with T cannot be described by a simple power law. Superconducting fluctuations persist in fields up to 55 kG even above 2T/sub c/. At higher fields there is a negative quadratic magnetoresistance which we interpret in terms of the Zeeman contribution to the characteristic energy in the expression for the hopping conductivity.
