Steam turbine governor system and method of controlling the same

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6626109
A governor system is described for a steam turbine having a valve means for controlling an amount of steam supplied to the turbine. The governor system comprises two electronic sections each producing a target opening signal for the valve means based on a turbine operation signal relating to an operation of the turbine and commonly applied to both of the two electronic sections. The means for selecting one of the target opening signals is produced by the electronic sections to be used for controlling the opening of the valve means, means for computing a first value representative of a parameter relating to the operation of the turbine as a predetermined function of the turbine operation signal. The means provide for each of the electronic sections for computing a second valve representative of the same parameter as that represented by the first value which would be obtained if the valve means is controlled by the target opening signal produced by the electronic section associated with the valve means. And the means for producing a selection signal on the basis of the first value and the second value are produced by the second value computing means provided to the two electronic sections, respectively, the selection signal being applied to the selecting means for determining which of the target opening signals should be selected by the switching means.
