Method and apparatus for processing a natural gas stream

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6623850

This is a method and apparatus for processing a natural gas stream. The apparatus consists of at least three adsorbent beds, with each bed passing consecutively through an adsorption cycle, an open-type heating cycle, and an open-type cooling cycle. The gas stream is first separated into two portions so that a stripped gas leaves the first bed. The second portion is successively passed, in series, through a heater and to another bed of adsorbent which was partially saturated during a previous cycle. Such condensables are driven off to a cooler to condense. The second section is also partly cooled. The liquid condensate passes through a separator and then through a third bed from which condensables have been removed by heating during a previous heating cycle. The third bed is cooled by the condensables. The stripped gas from the third bed is directed to the stripped gas from the first bed.
