Room temperature operation of a high efficiency pulsed LiF color center (F /sup -//sub 2/) laser

Highly penetrating /sup 60/Co ..gamma.. were used to irradiate a LiF crystal and produce a uniform distribution of color centers. The crystal was used in a pulsed laser to generate infrared radiation along with a second harmonic at 5800 A. (AIP)
