Chromaticity correction in large storage rings

The very large chromaticities encountered in storage rings like PEP, PETRA and the ''Very Big Storage Rings'' produce a new set of undesirable characteristics in the beam dynamics which require a more complicated means of correction. The phenomena encountered, their theoretical significance and ways of correcting these non-linear effects will be discussed in this paper. 10 refs., 16 figs., 1 tab.
