Optimization of an ideal thermionic converter

The optimization of the output power of an ideal thermionic converter is studied for the case in which the emitter temperature T/sub e/, the collector temperature T/sub k/, and the output current j are all given. An exact analytic equation is derived for the envelope of the voltage-current characteristics of the ideal converter for given values of T/sub e/ and T/sub k/. This envelope can be used to judge the efficiency of actual converters.
