National energy policy - the Department of Energy's perspective

The author explores the national energy policy pursued by the Reagan administration and the DOE, and how the future of natural gas fits into that policy. In contrast to previous adminstrations, the author finds current policy supportive of a healthy, unencumbered private sector economy to produce and distribute adequate supplies of energy. The administration wants to work with industry, including the gas industry to streamline the federal apparatus, making it supportive rather than managerial and cooperative rather than adversarial.
