Polymer dynamics and gelation

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6607197
This talk reviews some of the recent advances in the study of the sol-gel transition and in the dynamics of the sol clusters. Emphasis is on the experimental literature, but theory is discussed where it is needed to interpret the data. The first part of this lecture focuses on the kinetics of growth of the sol beneath the gel point, and on a few purely static issues, such as the fractal structure of the sol and the observation of a spatial correlation length in undiluted gels. The second part of this lecture discusses the relaxation of concentration fluctuations from the diluted and undiluted sol.
