The ammonium thiosulfate (ATS) process is one of the newest Claus Tail Gas Treatment techniques. The ATS method is designed to limit sulfur dioxide emission rates to less than 1,000 ppm and produce 18,140 metric tons/yr of ammonium thiosulfate fertilizer solution. Operation of the ATS system, which essentially consists of absorption and conversion subsystems, is described. (1 diagram, 6 references)
