According to the 21st Annual McGraw-Hill Publications Co. Department of Economics survey of overseas operations of US industrial companies, US overseas industrial firms will spend $1.334 billion for air and water pollution control in 1979, compared with $1.074 billion in 1978, and chemical industry firms will spend $154 million in 1979 for pollution control, compared with $151 million in 1978. The share of the overseas investment for pollution control has tended to be smaller than the share planned for that purpose in the US. No pollution control data are available for planned spending in 1980. The overseas capital spending and export sales expectations in 1978, 1979, and 1980, the profit margins on sales of overseas subsidiaries in 1980, and the expected per cent increase from 1979 to 1980 in overseas profit margins on sales are tabulated.
