A Demonstration Project for the low tension flood process was initiated in the Big Muddy Field in 1980. This paper introduces the concept of optimum slug mobility for maximum oil recovery and injectivity in the Second Wall Creek reservoir. A procedure to determine the optimum mobility for a low tension flood is described, and the early field performance data is compared to the laboratory design.
