Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. Project progress report for month ending October 31, 1981

The purpose of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is to provide a research and development facility to demonstrate the safe disposal of radioactive wastes resulting from the defense activities and programs of the United States. The status of the following tasks related to the WIPP is given: design, technical support, drilling, shaft outfitting and mining, and scientific program.
