The founding organization of the Sunshine Project is the Agency of Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). This project is sponsored by the Senior officer for developing programs. The New Energy Development Organization (NEDO) is entrusted with the project, and it is administered by the Director at NEDO. The technical manager of the project is the Director of the Engineering Development Department of the Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (EPDC). This facility is to be evaluated by NEDO from the technical and economical standpoints and by Sunshine Project Promotion Headquarters from the political standpoints. The objectives of this project are to evaluate the technical and economical feasibilities of solar thermal electric power generation plants with a central receiver tower.
