Composite materials: Testing and design. Volume 9; Proceedings of the Ninth Symposium, Sparks, NV, Apr. 27-29, 1988
This volume discusses topics on structural considerations and analysis of composite materials, delamination initiation and growth analysis, and damage mechanisms and test procedures. Papers are presented on certification testing methodology for fighter hybrid structure, the impact damage and residual strength analysis of composite panels with bonded stiffeners, and a failure analysis of bolted joints in composite laminates. Attention is given to the mechanics of instability-related delamination growth; delamination fracture between adhesive and adherends in bonded joints; matrix toughness, long-term behavior, and damage tolerance of notched graphite fiber-reinforced comoposite materials; and analytical and experimental investigations of composites using vibrothermography. Other papers are on the loading-rate sensitivity of open-hole composite specimens in compression, a failure criterion evaluation for composite materials, and experimental investigations and a model proposal on damage mechanisms in a reinforced carbon-carbon composite.
