This paper describes the construction of a light weight spectrometer scanning the ultraviolet and visible region, which was flown on balloon borne flights from Kiruna as part of EASOE. This instrument allowed simultaneous measurements of vertical profiles of ozone and nitrogen dioxide during the Arctic winter period. The instrument, and results obtained are described.
