Feasibility of nuclear-powered long range ballistic missiles
Technical Report

OSTI ID:6592140
A combination of a chemical booster and a nuclear rocket is proposed to accomplish the Atlas and/or more exacting missions. It is estimated that by using current chemical boosting techniques nuclear rockets can be developed of relatively small weight capable of delivering large pay loads to distances of 5500 nautical miles and beyond.
