Granular activated carbon was utilized as adsorbent for the removal of Fe(III) ions from aqueous solutions at different temperatures and fixed pH. The batch adsorption kinetics has been described by the Lagergren equation which is a pseudo-first-order rate expression; the surface mass transfer coefficients and diffusion coefficients have been calculated at different temperatures. The intraparticle transport of Fe(III) within the pores of activated carbon was found to be the rate-limiting step, while the process of uptake obeyed the Langmuir model of adsorption.
