Long-wavelength sound propagation in superfluid-filled porous media with novel geometries

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)

The acoustic-scattering corrections of several types of superleaks have been measured, providing information about inertial drag effects in the flow of superfluid /sup 4/He. The porous media which have been studied include Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/ packed powder, Grafoil, and Grafoil foam. The frequency dependence of the acoustic-scattering correction was measured for the Grafoil media.
