Study of the quasielastic reactions. nu. n. --> mu. /sup -/p and nu-barp. --> mu. /sup +/n in the SKAT bubble chamber at energies 3--20 GeV

Results are presented on measurement of total and differential cross sections for the quasielastic reactions ..nu..n..--> mu../sup -/p and nu-barp..--> mu../sup +/n at neutrino energies 3--20 GeV. The results were obtained on the basis of an exposure of the SKAT chamber filled with Freon in the neutrino beam of the Serpukhov accelerator. The data are compared with the V-A theory. In the framework of the dipole approximation, values are obtained for the axial mass M/sub A/ = 0.96 +- 0.04 +- 0.14 and 0.72 +- 0.11 +- 0.20 GeV respectively for for the ..nu.. and nu-bar data.
