Belle Ayr: shipping coal from the largest producing US coal mine

Amax Coal Co's Belle Ayr Mine in the Powder River Basin, Wyoming, is the largest producing mine in the US. All the coal is transported by unit trains to electricity generating plants throughout the country. An average of 4 unit trains a day are loaded. The trains consist of some 108 cars with a capacity of 91 tons/car. Details of the transport system are given.
