The process [ital pp][sup ([minus])][r arrow][ital W][sup [plus minus]][ital Z]+[ital X][r arrow][ital l][sub 1][sup [plus minus]][nu][sub 1][ital l][sub 2][sup +][ital l][sub 2][sup [minus]]+[ital X] is calculated to [ital O]([alpha][sub [ital s]]) for general [ital C]- and [ital P]- conserving [ital WWZ] couplings. At the Fermilab Tevatron center-of-mass energy, the QCD corrections to [ital WZ] production are modest. At CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies, the inclusive QCD corrections are large, but can be reduced significantly if a jet veto is imposed. The sensitivity limits for the anomalous [ital WWZ] couplings are derived from the next-to-leading order [ital Z] boson transverse momentum distribution for Tevatron and LHC energies. Unless a jet veto is imposed, [ital O]([alpha][sub [ital s]]) QCD corrections decrease the sensitivity to anomalous [ital WWZ] couplings considerably at LHC energies, but have little influence at the Tevatron. We also study, at next-to-leading order, rapidity correlations between the [ital W] and [ital Z] decay products, and the [ital ZZ]/[ital WZ] and [ital WZ]/[ital W][gamma] cross section ratios. These quantities are found to be useful tools in searching for the approximate zero present in the standard model [ital WZ] helicity amplitudes. The prospects for observing the approximate amplitude zero at the Tevatron and the LHC are critically assessed.
