Hypernuclear spectra are calculated by using the scalar derivative-coupling model of Zimanyi and Moszkowski. Although the fit is not unique, as in similar models, the experimental data are reproduced with accuracy. We discuss also how much information is contained in the spectroscopic data concerning the properties of the [Lambda] in nuclear matter. In particular, we discuss the saturation density and the minimum of the chemical potential of the [Lambda] particle.
