Angular distributions of differential cross section and the analyzing powers [ital iT][sub 11], [ital T][sub 20], and [sup [ital T]][ital T][sub 20] have been measured for the elastic scattering of polarized [sup 6]Li by [sup 58]Ni at an incident energy of 70.5 MeV. These data have been compared with the results of coupled-channels (CC) calculations with central interaction and coupling potentials generated using the cluster-folding (CF) method. The significance of spin-dependent potentials and the [ital D]-state admixture in the [sup 6]Li ground state wave function are discussed.
