Site unseen: The politics of siting a nuclear waste repository

Book ·
OSTI ID:6586376
The author analyses the history of nuclear waste politics from post-World War II through passages of the Nuclear Waste Policy Act in the 1980s. His focus is the nuclear establishment; his thesis is that this group consistently failed to recognize the need for institutional reform. The book is articulate, well-documented, and concise summary of the history of nuclear waste management from the perspective of a critic of the nuclear establishment. However, the book fails to resolve some key questions about the implementation of the Nuclear Waste Policy Act by the Reagan administration and by EPA. A broader perspective would also contribute to a more complete assessment of nuclear waste management.
