Application of a unified theory of rearrangement scattering to (p,d) reactions

In a recently developed many-body Faddeev theory of rearrangement scattering the transition matrix elements are given in terms of a distorted wave series. We discuss the construction of the distorted waves and evaluate the lowest order contribution to /sup 24/Mg(p,d) /sup 23/Mg at 96 MeV in zero range. Various approximations are examined and possible extensions of the present calculations are discussed.
