160-min pulsation period in the SMM solar hard x-ray burst data

Journal Article · · Sov. Astron. Lett. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)

The 2100 hard x-ray (lambda = 0.03--0.45 A) bursts recorded by the American SMM satellite in 1980--1981 are subjected to superposed-epochs analysis, which confirms (roughly-equal10/sup -3/ significance level) that the burst intensity is modulated with the 160.010-min solar global pulsation period. This period also occurs in the power spectrum of the intensity fluctuations of the lambda3.2 A coronal Ca XIX line.
