/sup 48/Ca-/sup 40/Ca radius difference from elastic scattering of 104-MeV. cap alpha. particles

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Lett.; (United States)

Elastic scattering of 104-MeV ..cap alpha.. particles from /sup 48,40/Ca was measured between 3/sup 0/ 110/sup 0/. Optical-model fits were made using a Fourier-Bessel description of the real potential and also using density-dependent folding models. The average result for the difference between nuclear-matter rms radii is r/sub m/(/sup 48/Ca) - r/sub m/(/sup 40/Ca) = 0.12 +- 0.06 fm. Comparisons are made with results obtained by other methods.
