Central receiver solar thermal power system, Phase 1. Progress report, period ending December 31, 1975

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6578285
This project covers a 24-month effort to accomplish the preliminary design and program definition of a 10-MWe central receiver pilot plant and to perform a series of experiments on three key subsystems, collector, receiver, and thermal storage. The objectives of these efforts are to: (1) establish the technical feasibility of a solar thermal power plant of a central receiver type with significant commercial potential; and (2) obtain sufficient development, production, and operating data to indicate the economics of operation for commercial plants of similar design. Progress is reported. Design and analysis details of subsystems are reported including collector subsystem, receiver subsystem, thermal storage subsystem, and electrical power subsystem. (WHK)
