Computer-based chemical and stable isotope modeling of geothermal systems in New Mexico

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6577759
The reseach objective is to develop a series of computer-based chemical modeling programs in order to conduct detailed interpretive studies of the mass of geochemical data obtained during previous studies of geothermal systems in New Mexico. The software development and basic applications to the project objectives are described. A geochemical study of the Lightning Dock KGRA, Hidalgo County, New Mexico is discussed. Computer programs were developed or adapted to perform the following three basic computations: (1) geochemical reservoir temperatures; (2) geothermal water mixing models; and (3) water/rock reactions path calculations. All programs were developed in FORTRAN IV for use on a PDP 11/MNC computer. (MHR)
