Transient plasma currents are excited with pulsed electrodes in a large laboratory plasma in a parameter regime characterized by electron magnetohydrodynamics ([omega][sub [ital ce]][sup [minus]1][much lt][ital t][sub pulse]/2[pi][much lt][omega][sub [ital ci]][sup [minus]1]). The combination of Hall currents and field-aligned currents gives rise to three-dimensional vortices whose helicity is manifested by linked and knotted current and field lines. The relation between magnetic helicity, [integral]A[center dot]B [ital dV], current helicity, [integral]J[center dot]B [ital dV], and their transport properties are investigated.
