Electron detachment via charge transfer to shape resonances in the H/sup -/-O/sub 2/ and H/sup -/-NO collisions

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Lett.; (United States)
Spectra of low-energy electrons ejected in the collisions of 2.5-keV H/sup -/ with O/sub 2/ and NO have been studied. Charge transfer to the shape resonances, O/sub 2//sup -/ ( /sup 2/Pi/sub g/,v''> or =4) and NO/sup -/( /sub 3/..sigma../sup -/,v''> or =1), was found to be the predominant route for the electron detachment. It was also found that Wigner's threshold law was sensitively reflected in the vibrational structures of the spectra.
