Results of catalyzed reactions of SRC-II products, Vacuum Flash Feed (VFF) and Light Ends Column Feed (LECF) to reduce their nitrogen and sulfur content to the lowest possible leven to render these products suitable as feedstocks for conventional petroleum refineries are reported. The products were treated in a trickle bed reactor by a catalytic hydrotreatment. The catalytic effects of all combustions of four metals, Co, Mo, Ni, and W, at two levels for each metal were investigated, and the results are tabulated. A catalyst with a metal combination of 4% CoO, 8% MoO/sub 3/, 1% NiO, and 8% WO/sub 3/ was found to reduce the N and S contents of the SRC-II LECF to as low as 0.3 wt % for 104 hours with an average liquid recovery of 91 wt %.
