Hold-down spring clamps on fuel assembly top nozzle

This paper describe a fuel assembly having a top nozzle and a hold-down device including spring assemblies mounted on the top nozzle and having base ends with holes therethrough alignable with holes in the top nozzle, a pair of improved spring clamp assemblies on the top nozzle for retaining the spring assemblies thereon. It comprises: a clamp block formed integrally with a top portion of the top nozzle at each of a pair of diagonal corners thereof; the clamp block having a pair of interconnected clamp slots formed therein for insertion of a pair of the spring assemblies of the base ends thereof and a pair of internally threaded bores formed therein; each clamp slot being formed in the clamp block with interconnected openings at front and outer sides thereof, and a pair of fasteners each for installing and fastening through one of the bores defined in the clamp block; the each fastener having an end being in the one hole in the top nozzle and an externally threaded head spaced from the end and being threadable within the one internally threaded bore of the clamp block for fastening and clamping the one spring assembly at the base end thereof between the clamp block and the top nozzle.
