Petroleum development in Middle East countries in 1972

Petroleum production in Middle East countries in 1972 totaled 6,584,000,000 bbl at an average rate of 17,989,071 bpd, compared with 5,928,666,000 bbl or 16,242,920 bpd in 1971. The principal production increases were in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. New fields were found in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Sharjah, and Turkey. There were no exploratory activities in Ajman, Umm Al Qaiwain, Yemen or Cyprus. The main areas of exploratory work were in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Oman, and Turkey. (134 refs.)
