A user's manual for the Sandia One-Dimensional Direct and Inverse Thermal (SODDIT) code
Technical Report

OSTI ID:6560034
The SODDIT computer code is a reliable tool for solving a wide variety of one-dimensional transient heat conduction problems. Originally developed in 1972 to predict the ablation of graphite/carbon bodies reentering the earth's atmosphere, it has since been modified by the authors to extend its capabilities well beyond its original scope. This manual describes the SODDIT code in detail and instructs the reader in its use. Several example problems of both direct and inverse heat conduction are presented, and the solutions obtained from SODDIT are compared with the solutions obtained from other sources. Examples of printed output from SODDIT are included. 7 refs., 13 figs., 28 tabs.
