This patent describes a burner for burning a gaseous combustible fuel including in combination a hollow generally cylindrically shaped metal member having first and second end portions. The cylindrically shaped member is comprised of a woven metal fabric having openings providing for the passage of a gas therethrough. A conduit means provides for the entrance of gas into the first end portion of the hollow generally cylindrically shaped member. A cylindrical plug member extends axially from the second end portion of the hollow generally cylindrically shaped member toward the first end portion thereof and terminates intermediate the first and second end portions. The cylindrical plug member and the second end portion of the hollow generally cylindrically shaped member define an annular space therebetween. The introduction of gas under pressure into the first end portion of the hollow generally cylindrically shaped member through the conduit means causes the gas to flow in the annular space and out through the plurality of openings in the woven metal fabric.
