Features of Republic Steel Corp's new coke-oven battery in Chicago are described. The coal charging car is equipped with a charging emission control system manufactured under licence from Nippon Steel, and also with an automatic lid liting system. The automatic door and joints cleaners were supplied by Koritsu Machine Industries of Tokyo. Both pusher and door machines have spillage collection devices to remove any coke spilled from the oven as it is pushed.
