This paper extends the study of the thermal and electrical properties of glasses in the Na/sub 2/O-Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/-SiO/sub 2/ and Na/sub 2/O-ZrO/sub 2/-SiO/sub 2/ systems and provides data on new glasses in the Na/sub 2/O-Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/-ZrO/sub 2/-SiO/sub 2/ system. The data show that these sodium-ion-conducting glasses have desirable characteristics for use in sodium/sulfur cells, i.e., a rho of 100-200 ..cap omega..-cm at 300/sup 0/C and at T/sub g/ of 500/sup 0/-600/sup 0/C.
