Ferromagnetic instability in the heavy-electron compound URu/sub 2/Si/sub 2/ doped with Re or Tc

We report the first ferromagnetic instability observed in a heavy-electron system. Solid solutions of URu/sub 2-//sub x/M/sub x/Si/sub 2/, where M = Re or Tc, have been found to undergo a ferromagnetic transition in the concentration range 0.4approx.
