The radioactive indicator technique has been used to study the distribution of promethium-147 and promethium-labeled rare-earth elements between aqueous 2-naphthalenesulfonate solutions of 1,1-diantipyralkanes in organic solvents. Optimal conditions have been found for extraction of the element, the ratio of components in the extracted complexes has been determined, the apparent extraction constants have been calculated, the relationship between the extraction capability and structure of the reagent has been established, and it has been shown that the solvent influences the magnitude of the distribution coefficient. The maximum recovery of REE (greater than 98% from 2-naphthalenesulfonate media at pH = 3.5-5.5 is given by a dichloroethane solution of diantipyrylmethane.
