The extraction of lead(II) with tri-n-butylphosphate (TBP) is studied as a function of the concentration of lead, uranium(VI), nitric acid, di-n-butylphosphate, and certain other reagents of the ''Purex'' process, temperature and time of contact of the phases, and also the effect of lead on the chemical stability of the plutonium(IV) valence. The applicability of the atomic-absorption procedure is shown for the determination of lead in nitric acid solutions of uranium(VI).
