Ion-molecular reactions between free butyl cations obtained by nucleochemical technique and benzene in the gas, liquid, and solid phases have been studied. It has been proved that the main products of ion-molecular reaction of free butyl cations and benzene are isomeric n-, sec-, and tert-butyl benzenes in the gas phase and only n- and sec-butyl benzenes in the condensed media. An explanation has been offered for the probable processes giving the observed products.
