One achievement during the past year was the development of cryogenic techniques to allow samples to be ..gamma.. irradiated at 4/sup 0/K and then transferred to the EPR spectrometer for subsequent observations at 10 to 15/sup 0/K and above. The adduct methyl radical in ..gamma..-irradiated dimethyl sulfoxide-h/sub 6/ was detected by this means. A study of d-atom abstraction by trapped H and D atoms in 3-methylpenetane-d/sub 14/ at temperatures below 50/sup 0/K was completed. Abstracts of reports published during the year are included.
