The problem of finding the optical potential can be reduced to solving the equation for the tau matrix for scattering on a bound target particle. The equations for the tau matrix are formulated. The t matrix for scattering on a frozen particle (the adiabatic approximation) is taken as the zeroth approximation. The corrections to the adiabatic approximation are calculated for the case where the incident particle is much lighter than the target particle. The tau matrix is found for energies E on the order of the binding energy - and for E>>-.
