Spin flip in the reaction /sup 28/Si(p, p'. gamma. )/sup 28/Si in the energy interval 3. 50--3. 80 MeV

The energy and angular dependences of the spin-flip probability and of the inelastic-scattering cross section of the reaction /sup 28/Si(p,p'..gamma..)/sup 28/Si were measured in the resonance region at E/sub p/=3.571 and 3.710 MeV. In the description of the experimental data, account was taken of the influence of the neighboring resonances, and the contribution of the direct excitation of the target nucleus was estimated. The values of the proton partial widths of the transition to the 2/sup +/ level were determined for these resonances.
