Kinetics of the high temperature reaction of CO with N/sub 2/O was investigated in a shock tube. For CO/sub 2/ formation in CO-N/sub 2/O-He-Ar mixtures, it was found that the bimolecular reaction (1) CO + N/sub 2/O ..-->.. CO/sub 2/ + N/sub 2/ was predominant below 2000 K and the thermolecular recombination (6) CO + O + M ..-->.. CO/sub 2/ + M became important above 2000 K. The rate constants of the reactions were determined by a comparison of the calculated infrared emission profiles of CO/sub 2/ with those observed by experiments. The rate constants were found to be k/sub 1/ = 9.8 x 10/sup 10/ exp(-73 kJ/RT) cm/sup 3/ mol/sup -1/ s/sup 1/ and k/sub 6/ = 1.6 x 10/sup 15/ exp(-30 kJ/RT) cm/sup 6/ mol/sup -2/ s/sup -1/.
