Hydrotreating process employing a novel catalytic composition

A process is described for hydrotreating a substantially liquid hydro-carbon-containing feed stream, which also contains organic sulfur compounds, organic nitrogen compounds and organic oxygen compounds. The process comprises the step of contacting the hydrocarbon-containing feed stream with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst composition consisting essentially of: (a) alumina, (b) zinc titanate, (c) at least one compound of molybdenum, (d) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of nickel compounds and cobalt compounds, and (e) at least one compound of rhenium, under such hydrotreating conditions as to obtain a hydrocarbon-containing product stream having reduced levels of sulfur, nitrogen and oxygen.
